Ignacia Mercadal is Assistant Professor of International and Public Affairs at SIPA where she teaches energy economics. Her research centers on competition and regulation in energy markets, with a particular focus on electricity markets.
She previously served as a postdoctoral fellow at the MIT Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research and the MIT Sloan School of Management. Mercadal holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago, a MSc from Tilburg University, and an MA and a BA from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
